Artists Respond Grant Recipient

I'm thrilled to announce that the Connecticut Office of the Arts has awarded me an FY24 Artists Respond grant. This funding will support the next segment of my community project, β€œThe Sound of Plastic,” at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, an environmental justice community. Through interactive art installations and educational workshops, we'll explore two critical issues affecting our local shoreline: the preservation of horseshoe crabs, an endangered and misunderstood keystone species for biodiversity, and the growing challenge of plastic pollution in our waters and along the Connecticut coastline.

The Artists Respond program empowers Connecticut creators to use their artistic voices to spark meaningful change in our communities and is supported by the Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

By combining creative expression with environmental education, my project aims to inspire Bridgeport residents of all ages to become stewards of our local environment and advocates for environmental justice.
