🌊 This Plastic-free July, let’s protect our beloved Coastline! 🌳
Did you know? “Around the world, one million plastic bottles are purchased every minute, while up to five trillion plastic bags are used worldwide every year” (UNEP). Much of this plastic ends up in our oceans and waterways.
How can you help keep Bridgeport plastic-free?
During your visit to Seaside Park this month:
Bring reusable water bottles (there are free filtered water stations at the park)
Say no to plastic straws and utensils
Pack picnics in reusable containers
Properly dispose of any garbage in the trash receptacles
Pick up your plastic sand toys and take them home
Remember, “Most plastic items never fully disappear; they just break down into smaller and smaller pieces” (UNEP). These microplastics harm marine life and enter our food chain and our bodies.
By reducing single-use plastics, we’re not just keeping Seaside Park beautiful – we’re protecting our entire ecosystem.
It’s plastic free July — keep your paws off plastic except to pick up plastic trash!
